Forget-Me-Not (Stars Look On Forever)

Hanging over me
still one awful dream:
I cast myself into the sea

of tears, for you dear they overflow
playing fields of long ago
where only lonely flowers grow

so blue, tormented by a crowing doodle-do,
pluck them quick, there's only two
eyes I left behind for you:
forget-me-not while I'm in bloom

Stars must look on forever,
'why?' a question growing fainter
whispered in the dead of night

My child, please put out the light
I need rest, my chest feels tight
since I left you out of sight

you flew with the crow over the moon
to the heavens past the gloom
while at the rendezvous
forget-me-not await in bloom

Oh, in bloom
yearning for my honeydew

Stars must look on forever,
'why?' a question growing fainter
whispered in the dead of night

Please, Darling, play me to sleep,
close the gap before I peep,
you know these waters run too deep

So blue, from my dreams cut me loose,
cut my shadow, it's no use,
but until my time is due
and the stars are shining too
your forget-me-not will always bloom

Oh, in bloom
yearning for my honeydew
Bloom

Stars look on forever,
children wonder
why they can't put out the light
