Bok-Bok-Mak-Kik

Can you hear birds sing
bok-bok-mak-kik?
Bet they’re playing in their room,
isn’t it real yellowwood?
There’s a world to be seen,
it’s calling us
Everybody grab your things,
we’re leaving town

Mama come and look at the honeypot,
those are flowers that can please a jolly lot
The monkey beetles and the sugarbirds
are gonna have a real good time

Keep on driving all the way
to that Great Dane
He always wears a navy cap,
isn't he Just the friendly chap?
Then we’ll go to Foxy Beach
and salute our penguins
before Tafelberg’s dassies
and Rose’s frog

Mama can we sit beneath the silver trees?
Yes, my dears, then we’ll have some bobotie
while surrounded by Table Mountain’s
very own Beauty and Pride

Oh, there’s a poor wounded grey mongoose
Don’t you worry child,
we can take it to the animal sanctuary

Where all the creatures find a home
and all their worries will be gone
We kept on dreaming till it came true
(all together now)

Can you hear birds sing
bok-bok-mak-kik?
Bet they’re playing in their room,
isn’t it real yellowwood?
There’s a world to be seen,
it’s calling us
Everybody grab your things,
we’re leaving town
