Ayou

Ayou,
your smile has travelled far,
crossing sand and waters
and reaching a-many hearts

Ayou,
did tears drop along the way?
Or do they burden you
like gravel hitching in a shoe?

Oh roots,
time to part with my heart in my boots
to start

anew,
a swift alone in the darkening blue
I shoot

unbound,
till my feet wish they'd touch the ground
I've found

a home,
after everything I've undergone
I won't moan, I won't moan

While riding my bike
in the dark every night
I see clearly
the light that lies buried
deep in every plight
when the heart is
in the right place

When low,
a dish of fou-fou and I'm good to go
to work

and work,
both my hands a-moving round the clock
non-stop

and slave
till my toil will pay my way,
one day

remain,
a blooming flower in the pouring rain
Don’t complain, don’t complain

While riding my bike
in the dark every night
I see clearly
the light that lies buried
deep in every plight
when the heart is
in the right place

Now race,
you know a smile goes a long long way,
keep pace

to cry,
flying free in the bright blue sky
I will cry, I will cry
